Those who have dedicated themselves to protect us have taken it one step farther, thanks to Chief Tom Whitten, Capt. Kelly Lowe and the hard working officers and staff.

Tom Udall and Wanda Welch of Keep Carlsbad Beautiful spoke at the event, and Santhia Collins sang "The Star Spangled Banner." (quoted from Matlin Smith Current-Argus Staff Writer. Current-Argus Story) along with the public officially opened the new section of the department as well as the new Liberty Park.
The police department is taking a new approach to law enforcement, not just reactive but interactively working with the public. The new Community Access and restructuring of the police department is designed to fulfill that goal.
